rules inside :first-line pseudo-class are completely ignored when !important modifier is used

:first-line pseudo-element and (for some strange reason) add
!important to strengthen the specificity of the rule. All browsers play along fine, but IE8 decides to rebel and ignores the rule completely - not just the
!important, but the entire rule. You then start adding second and third
!important in hopes to fix the problem, alas, that's not the way to go :) To the demo!
